Vertical Blinds F.A.Q.
Should I choose a fabric or vinyl vertical blind?
Vinyl vertical blinds are very easy to clean. Most products require cleaning with just a damp sponge or cloth. Vinyl vertical blinds stand up better to "wear and tear" especially at sliding glass doors. Fabric vertical blinds are the right choice when you want a softer look. Different fabrics offer different light-diffusing or blocking abilities. Heavier fabrics help darken a room when the blinds are closed while sheer fabrics gently diffuse the light. Fabric vertical blinds will require more cleaning and care than vinyl vertical blinds.
Should I mount the blind inside or outside of the window?
For sliding glass doors, you should mount the blind on the outside of the frame. The mounting brackets will sit above and outside the window frame. When the binds are fully closed, you won't see the edges of the window frame. An outside mount also helps ensure no light escapes through gaps on either side of the window. You can mount the blind on the inside of the window frame in windows that have a depth of at least 1-1/2” and 5” for a flush mount.
What valance options are available for vertical blinds?
The standard valance has a coordinating fabric insert and conceals the track system, providing a finished look. Options include valances with rounded corners (BlindSaver Basics), wood cornices (Bali) or fascia rods with finials (Comfortex).
What are the available widths and heights of vertical blinds?
Because vertical blinds are available in such large widths and heights – between 9 and up to 192 inches wide and 24 to 144 inches high (depending on manufacturer) – they are a stylish and practical window covering solution for nearly any size window.
How are the blinds installed?
A track system is installed on the wall or ceiling and the vinyl or fabric vanes are hung from clips on the track. Each blind is shipped with installation instructions and all the necessary hardware. You can also review installation guides online by clicking here.

FabricFabric vanes offer a wide variety of colors, textures, and materials to help match almost any decor style. Fabric vanes are available "free hanging" with sewn in weights and optional sway chains or inserted into a PVC groover.
Fabric LaminateFabric laminate verticle vanes consist of a fabric material laminated directly onto a pvc vinyl vane. Available in both standard curved and also s-curved vane styles.
S-CruveS-curve vanes are available in both vinyl and fabric laminate materials. The s-cruve vane has a gentle "S" shape giving it a softer, more drapery like appearance.
