What is the difference between cellular and honeycomb shades?
There is no difference between a cellular shade and a honeycomb shade. These accordion-style shades are constructed from soft fabrics. The cells form a honeycomb design, hence the interchangeable names: honeycomb and cellular. Hunter Douglas developed the honeycomb blind with the Duette Honeycombs and has trademarked that name. Other brands tend to use the term cellular shade.
Will cellular shades lower my heating bill?
Cellular shades provide the best energy efficiency of any manufactured blind so you should see a reduction in your heating and cooling bills depending on the application. The shades feature unique honeycomb pleats available in single and double honeycomb cells. They also block nearly 100% of damaging UV rays. The shades come in hundreds of colors to match any room in your home.
What is the difference between an inside and an outside mount?
An inside mount means that the blind is mounted on the inside of the window opening. Cellular shades need 1 to 3" of depth inside the window for an inside mount. Review product specifications before ordering. An outside mount should be used when there isn't enough depth to mount the blind.
What options are available with cellular shades?
Cellular shades are highly versatile and come with a number of options including continuous cord loop for smooth operation of large or heavy shades; top-down/bottom-up which, as the name suggests, allows you to open the shade from the top down or from the bottom up; cordless lift which allows you to effortlessly raise and lower your shades; and radio frequency controlled remote operation.
How do I clean cellular shades?
Regular dusting and occasional vacuuming will keep your shades looking new. Use a dry feather duster, soft cloth or soft brush on your vacuum cleaner. Spot clean with a damp cloth. Several products can be immersed in a bath tub full of water. Before cleaning your shades, refer to the product specifications provided with the shipped blind for cleaning instructions.
What are the available widths of cellular shades?
Because cellular shades are available in such large widths between 12 and up to 192 inches (depending on manufacturer) they are a stylish and practical window covering solution for nearly any size window.
What is the difference between manufacturers?
BlindSaver.com represents the finest window covering manufacturers in the country including Hunter Douglas, Bali, Graber, Levolor, M&B and our own brand, BlindSaver Value Line. Each is backed by a life time warranty and shipped directly to you from the manufacturer.
Are cellular shades easy to install?
