Roman Shades FAQ

What is the difference between a roller shade and a roman shade?
Roller shades are flat and roll up while roman shades fold up in a teardrop or flat panel style. Roman shades have the beautiful look and feel of draperies, but with the practicality of a modern cellular blind. They are available in a wide variety of styles and fabrics including many of the fabrics found in roller and solar shade materials; they are available in a range of opacities from sheer to blackout.

What is the best way to install roman shades?
Roman shades can be installed inside the window frame or outside depending on the window and the look you desire. Inside mounts require depths from ½” to 2”, depending on the blind. Review detailed specifications before ordering.

What valance options are available with roman shades?
A color-coordinated valance to match your fabric selection comes standard. The valance covers the head rail. You can add a personalized touch to your fabric valance with a wide selection of gimp, fringe and bead options (Bali Blinds). Another option is a wood or fabric cornice that covers and wraps around the head rail for a more custom look (Bali Blinds).

How do I clean my roman shades?
Regular dusting and occasional vacuuming will keep your shades looking new. Use a dry feather duster, soft cloth or soft brush on your vacuum cleaner. Before cleaning your shades, refer to the product specifications provided with the shipped blind for cleaning instructions.

What are the available widths of roman shades?
Roman shades are available in widths from 16 to 90 inches, depending on manufacturer.

How are roman shades installed?
A few simple tools are required to install the brackets. The roman shade then fits into the brackets. Each blind is shipped with installation instructions and all the necessary hardware. You can also review installation guides online by click Measure, Design, Install on the drop down menu at the top of the page.
