Standard measuring procedures apply to all products that fit rectangular windows unless otherwise specified.

Measuring an Inside Mount (IB)

Measure the width inside the window opening at the top and write it down. The top measurement is critical because the headrail must fit!

Measure the height inside the window opening at left, right and center. Measure window on the diagonal. If the two diagonal dimensions differ significantly, it may be necessary to specify an outside mount for optimal light control and privacy. Take the shortest of the three measurements and write it down.

Be sure the window opening is deep enough to install the mounting bracket. You can find specific mounting requirements for vertical blinds on product pages or by contacting our customer service team.

Measuring an Outside Mount (OB)

Measure the desired width and height. To minimize light leakage, the shade should overlap the window opening at least 2" on each side and bottom. When measuring for sliding glass doors the shades should sit a minimum of 1/4"-1/2" above the floor for smooth operation.

When measuring the height, take into account the requirements for mounting the bracket attachment above the window. Typically you will require 2" above the window to securely mount the bracket. You can find the specific mounting requirements for vertical blinds on the product pages.

Stackback Measuring Procedures for Vertical Blinds

These instructions apply for a window opening that is to be fully uncovered when the treatment is drawn open.

These instruction work only for outside-mounted treatments.

First measure the desired Uncovered Width (i.e. the width you wish to be uncovered when the blind is fully drawn open), rounding your measurement down to the nearest 1/8".

Next add the amount of "Stackback" for the product. This is the amount of width the blind requires to stack when drawn open. Specific "Stackback" specification for each vertical product can be obtained on blind product pages or through customer service at 877.388.0336 .

You will also need to add overlap for the side opposite the blind stack. It is normally recommended to add a minimum of 2" for optimal light control. Recommendation for products may differ and can be obtained through customer service.

It is important to confirm that there is enough room to outside mount the treatment on the opening at the width you will order.
